With Wodify you are able to configure two out-of-the-box Tax Rates: Products and Services/Membership. Adding a New Service? You can also create your own specific tax rates.
Step-By-Step How To
Configure your Default Products and Services/Memberships Tax Rate
Follow these steps when setting up your tax rates for the first time. But because tax rates can change over time, you are able to update your existing tax rate percentages with just a few clicks. Changes to your Products or Services/Memberships tax rates can affect existing clients so please be sure to take your time and read all in-app messaging.
- Go to Financial > Settings
- Within the Invoice Configuration tab > Scroll down to view Tax Rate
- Click into the Services/Memberships or Products Tax Rate field to add your tax rate %
- Click the Save Changes Button
- For Products or Services, you will be prompted to select What should your tax rate change affect?
- All new and existing and new unpaid invoices will use the updated tax rate
- Only new invoices will use the updated tax rate
- For Services/Memberships, you will be prompted to select What should your tax rate change affect?
- All new and existing memberships and unpaid invoices will use the updated tax rate
- Only new memberships and invoices will use the updated tax rate
- For Products or Services, you will be prompted to select What should your tax rate change affect?
How to add a New Custom Tax Rate
Adding an entirely new service? Follow these steps to create a separate Tax Rate.
- Go to Financial > Settings
- Within the Invoice Configuration tab > Scroll down to view Tax Rates
- Click + Tax Rate
- Add the Tax Rate Name and Tax Rate %
- Click the Save Changes button
- This will now be available in any dropdown menu where taxes are chosen such as Membership payment plans and on Product pages.
FAQs
- "What tax rate should I use?"
Answer: This will depend on the tax rate of your location (typically state and local need to be considered). If you cannot locate this information or are uncertain, it is recommended you speak with a financial advisor. - "What if my sales tax is folded into my membership/product pricing already?"
Answer: Feel free to leave these at 0! You can also select "No Sales Tax" from the drop down menu in any membership payment plan or product page.
