What Are Workflow Buttons?
Workflow Buttons are admin-configured buttons that can be placed directly in the Wodify Client App or employee interface. When tapped, they instantly trigger a connected Wodify Workflow — allowing for automations like:
- Opening specific doors (e.g., front or back)
- Starting a membership upgrade process
- Enabling self-service membership holds
- Collecting client feedback
- Triggering third-party APIs (e.g., Sonos or Spotify)
Tip: One use case example would be Door Access Automation.
Want to offer 24-hour gym access? Smart Buttons can enable clients to unlock facility doors through the app — no need for external systems!
Step-by-Step Setup
1. Adding a Smart Button
- Navigate to Web & Mobile > Mobile App > Workflow Buttons in Wodify Core.
- Hit Create Workflow Button; This will allow you to name your button and add a short description for internal context.
- Hit SAVE.
To assign the button to a page:
- Navigate to the Navigation tab at the top of the screen to either add a new menu option/page or assign your new workflow button to a current page. (Note: a single Workflow Button can be added to multiple pages)
- Hit Save to finalize the setup.
2. Add Custom Inputs (Optional)
- If you want to set up a Custom Input, hit the Custom Input option during the button setup.
- Once this is selected, you can collect additional info from users before triggering the workflow, such as:
- Dropdown selections (e.g., Front Door vs. Back Door)
- Text fields (e.g., PIN entry)
- Multiple-choice options
- These inputs pass directly to the Workflow when added, and act as a key in order to trigger the automation.
Note: Check out our Mobile App Custom Navigation article for more information on how you can personalize your Wodify app experience for members.
Tips & Best Practices
- Name clearly: Use action-oriented names (e.g., “Request Hold,” not just “Hold”).
- Test workflows: Ensure each workflow functions correctly before publishing.
- Custom Inputs: Use these to create tailored logic per button.
- Security: For facility access, validate permissions and PINs in the workflow.
Additional Use Cases
- Membership Upgrades: Let clients initiate changes to their plans.
- Click-to-Cancel Compliance: Offer a compliant self-cancellation option.
- Class Sound System: (Experimental) Trigger music playlists via Spotify API.
- Client Feedback Collection: Add a form-style button for post-class surveys.
FAQs
Can I use the same Workflow Button on multiple pages?
Yes, buttons are now reusable across pages. You can assign a single button to as many pages as needed without recreating it. Note that the button will trigger the same connected workflow regardless of which page a member taps it from.
Can I control who sees a Workflow Button page?
Absolutely; You can restrict visibility of the entire Workflow Button page to just employees and coaches, or use segment filters to get even more granular — for example, only showing the page to clients on a specific membership or with a certain attendance history.
