Creating Your Apple Developer Account

Follow

An Apple Developer account is required to launch your Branded App. This process typically takes 20-30 minutes of setup time if you have all necessary documents available, but Apple's review can add 3-10 business days. It is best to get started as soon as possible!

Already have an Apple Developer account and got approved? Skip this article and go straight to Granting Wodify Access to Your Apple Developer Account

Important: Please Read the Following to Avoid a Three-Week Delay

When Apple asks you to select an entity type, you must choose Company/Organization, not Individual/Sole Proprietor. Picking the wrong one can add up to 3 weeks to your app build.

If you're not 100% sure how to proceed, stop and reach out to your Wodify contact before proceeding. This one click matters more than everything else in this article combined.

Before you Start: Gather These Five Things

What you need Why Apple Asks Where to Get It
A registered legal entity Apple only accepts real legal entities, no DBAs, fictitious names, or trade names. The name must match your tax ID exactly. Your business incorporation or registration paperwork
A D-U-N-S number Used to verify your organization's identity. This is usually the step that trips people up. Look it up or request one here (note: if you don't have an existing number, it may take up to a few weeks to issue, but it's typically free to acquire)
A company email address Personal emails (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) are rejected. You need something @yourcompany.com. Your business email provider
A public website The domain must be publicly live and associated with your organization. Your website, or if you don't have an existing website, reach out to support@wodify.com to talk through setting up a Wodify Site
Confirmation you can sign for the company You must be an owner, founder, exec, senior project lead, or have been explicitly granted signing authority. Confirm with your company leadership if unsure

Start Enrollment

Only proceed to this section if you have gathered all five things above! If you're waiting on a website, D-U-N-S, or company email address, don't proceed until you have that squared away. Your Wodify point of contact can help move those processes along if needed.

  1. Go to the Apple Developer Enrollment Page and click Start your Enrollment
  2. If you have an existing Apple ID, you can use it to sign in to Apple Developer. Note that the account must have two-factor authentication enabled.
  3. If not, you can create a new account by clicking Create Your Apple Account. Please note that an email with your company domain (e.g., yourname@yourcompany.com) is required. Apple will not accept personal emails.

Submission and Next Steps

You will be taken to a final page where you can review all the information you have previously entered. If everything is correct, click Submit.

Two options will happen from here:

  1. If your account is automatically approved, you will be redirected to the Apple Store to finalize the purchase of your Developer account.
  2. If your account requires further review by Apple, you will receive an email within the next 3 days indicating that you can finalize the purchase.

About 24 hours after the payment, you should receive an email confirming you're successfully enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. Please note that enrollment does not equal approval. Approval of your Apple Developer account may take up to seven days.

Once Apple has officially approved you, please reply to the initial email you received, letting us know you are ready to proceed with your Branded App!
