Progression Certificates help you reward your clients for their hard work. You can use our five pre-built templates, or customize your own. Then, deliver them to your clients over email or print them and sign them to hand out in-person.

Pre-requisite Pro-Tip

This works best if your Progressions are set up already. For existing Progressions, you'll need to edit each level and toggle on "Eligible for certificate" for the levels that offer a certificate.

Step-By-Step How To

Two ways to start:

You can open the "Generate Certificate" sidebar in two places:

  • From the People > Progressions page
    • Tip: select Clients first, and they'll be automatically included in the sidebar

  • From a Client profile, for a Progression that the Client is part of
    • The Client is included automatically, but you can still add more

Step 1: Customize

In Step 1, decide which general information you want on your certificates, and how you want them to look.

  • Level - choose which level your certificates should be awarded for (the [clientlevel] placeholder)
    • To choose a level that applies to each Client's progress, choose from "Client levels"
      • By default, "Current level" is selected
      • Choosing "Previous" or "Next level" will select the one before or after the current one
    • To choose a specific level, select one of the "Progression levels"
      • Only levels that have been marked "Eligible for certificate" will show here
      • Click the "Manage Eligible Levels" button to toggle existing levels on or off (or edit them in Manage Levels)
    • You can verify and customize by Client in Step 2
  • Certificate design - click to select which template you'd like to use

    • Hover and click the pencil icon to open the certificate editor
    • Customize anything you want!
    • If you want to start over, click "Reset to Default" to restore the original pre-built template
  • Date - choose the date that will appear on the certificate (the [certificatedate] placeholder)
    • Selects "Today" by default
    • You can choose the date of the last level change, or a custom date that you specify
  • Signature(s) - whose name is signed
    • These appear depending on whether the [signature1] and [signature2] placeholders are included in the selected template
    • Leave these blank if you want to print and sign the certificates yourself!

Step 2: Clients

Now, make sure each individual Client's information is correct, before finalizing.

  • Add and remove - click the "Add Client" button to select a new person, or the trash can to remove an existing one
    • You'll only be able to add Clients who are in the selected Progression
  • Level - this is pre-set from Step 1, but you can override it here
  • Date - also pre-set from Step 1
    • If you return to Step 1 and change Level or Date, it will remove these manual overrides

Step 3: Preview

Double-check that the certificates are looking the way you want, and then choose how you want to distribute them.

  • Preview for Client - select the Client whose certificate you want to preview
    • The certificate will update to show you the information you specified for each Client
  • Email - an email will be sent to each of the Clients you've chosen, with the certificate attached as a PDF
  • Download - a PDF will download to your computer, with each certificate on a different page

FAQs

Why don't I see any levels to select?

You have to mark levels as "Eligible for certificate" for them to show up. This is so your intermediate "stripe" levels don't get in the way of your whole "belt" levels. Set up each Progression so you've enabled all the levels you want to award certificates for.

Why do the Clients in Step 2 not have a level or date selected?

We can only select values if they match the Client's activity. For example, if a Client has achieved the first level of a Progression, and you choose "Previous level" in Step 1, we won't put anything there. Check your Step 1 to make sure it should make sense, or just select a specific value in Step 2.

Will these certificates show up in the Client's mobile app?

We don't currently show certificates in the mobile app; they're for delivering directly to Clients. If they want to share on social media or elsewhere, send them a PDF in an email!

Can I add more certificate templates?

For now, we're keeping five available slots for certificate templates. Customize those slots any way you'd like!
