Why This Matters

The Wodify MCP server lets you connect your own AI assistant — like Claude or ChatGPT — directly to your gym's reporting data so you can ask questions in plain English and get answers pulled from your actual Wodify account. Instead of clicking through reports to check member counts, revenue, or retention trends, you can ask things like "Which members are most at risk of cancelling?" and your AI assistant will analyze the data for you. This is currently an alpha release and is read-only, covering the same data available through Custom Reporting.

Prerequisites

You will need a Wodify API Key (generate in Wodify Core) and an account with a supported AI assistant. For background on how MCP works, see the Model Context Protocol Server concepts documentation.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In Wodify Core, navigate to Automations > Integrations.
  2. Locate the API key section and generate a new key.
  3. Copy the key and store it somewhere secure — you will paste it into your AI assistant in the next step.

Note: We generally recommend Claude, but instructions are included for both Claude and ChatGPT below.

Option 1: Connect Claude (recommended)

  1. Open Claude at claude.ai or in the Claude Desktop app.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Connectors.
  3. Select Add custom connector.
  4. Enter the MCP server URL: https://mcp.wodify.com
  5. Select Connect next to the connector you just added.
  6. When prompted, paste your Wodify API key.

Option 2: Connect ChatGPT (requires Developer Mode — limited rollout)

  1. Enable Developer Mode in your ChatGPT settings.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Create app.
  3. Enter the MCP server URL: https://mcp.wodify.com
  4. Select OAuth (no advanced settings needed).
  5. When prompted, paste your Wodify API key.

Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant questions about your gym's data. Start simple and then go deeper:

  • "How many active members do I have?"
  • "What was my revenue last month?"
  • "How many leads did I convert this quarter?"
  • "Which members are most at risk of cancelling and what do they have in common?"
  • "Where are the biggest drop-offs in my lead-to-member conversion funnel?"
  • "What does my attendance data tell me about the best times to add a new class?"

FAQs

Q: "Can my AI assistant make changes to my Wodify account?" A: No. The Wodify MCP server is currently read-only and covers the same data available through Custom Reporting. Your AI assistant can analyze and report on your data, but cannot create, edit, or delete records.

Q: "Why doesn't ChatGPT work the same way as Claude?" A: ChatGPT's MCP support requires Developer Mode and is part of a limited rollout from OpenAI. For the smoothest experience, we recommend using Claude. If you do connect ChatGPT, follow the Option 2 steps above carefully.

Q: "What data can my AI assistant see?" A: The MCP server exposes the same data that's available through Wodify's Custom Reporting — including member, lead, revenue, attendance, and conversion data. It does not expose passwords, payment credentials, or any data outside of Custom Reporting.
