Why This Matters
Wodify’s Two-Way SMS feature is perfect for seamless communication between you and your leads/clients! Admins, Managers, and Coaches can now directly text lead and clients' phone numbers from a newly created business number in Wodify Core, allowing you to quickly turn leads into clients and strengthen connections with current members.
Note: SMS is only available to our customers in the U.S and Canada at this time.
Pre-requisite Pro-Tip
Receiving Permission from Leads and Clients:
To send an SMS message, you will need to be sure that your clients and leads check the following permissions checkbox. If you get consent from the client/lead to check on their behalf, this checkbox can be checked when:
Step-By-Step How To: Enable Two-Way SMS
To enable Two Way SMS, you will first need to set up a Number. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Communication > Settings > SMS Numbers Tab > Click CREATE GROUP NUMBER
- You will be taken to a set up screen where you will need to add the following info. Click Create once you have everything set up!
-
Location:
- The location you select will become the default location for any leads who text this new number.
- Having different numbers per location will allow you to keep your lead generation strategies separate and ensure that leads are talking to the correct coaches and admins. However, you do have the option leave this location box unselected.
- If you do assign a location to a number, people using that number will only be able to communicate with clients associated with that location. If a number is not assigned a location, it will be able to interact with all clients at all locations tied to your business.
- Group Name: Name associated with the number; typically the location name
- Employees: Determine who you want to have access to text from this number in Wodify. This is a great chance to include coaches or other staff members who will help with your client and lead reachout strategies.
- Phone Number: This is a pre-generated list. Please select one of the numbers from the drop-down. Having a professional number that is different from your personal number is a great way to keep your personal and business lives separate!
-
Business Registration Number: As of February 16th, 2026, carriers require toll-free numbers to be associated with a real business. This means you'll need to enter:
- Business type (usually For-Profit)
- Your business's legal name (note that this might be different from your gym name)
- Type of registration number
- For US customers, your EIN
- For others, however you've registered your business
- Your registration number
-
Opt-in flow images: Images of your opt-in flow should reflect that your website's Lead form is compliant with communications regulations. (If you used the Wodify-generated Lead form, it already is!)
- The opt-in box must be un-checked by default, so the Lead makes the choice to check it
- The language about what they agree to by opting in must be clearly visible
- The screenshot must include your gym's name or branding, so the image is verifiably yours
-
Location:
Note: Phone numbers will need to be verified for the messages to be sent successfully. The verification process can take up to 2-3 weeks.
Step-By-Step How To: Add an Additional Number
If you have created your first number, you may need to create additional numbers for different locations or even different coaches/admins.
- In Communication > Settings, click the SMS Numbers tab
- Click Create Group Number in the upper right
- Configure your number's properties
- Location: where inbound unknown messages are created as Leads. You will choose your other location here.
- Group Name: the visible name of your phone number, in Core
- Employees: who has access to use the phone number (you can change this later)
- Choose an available phone number from the drop-down
- Upload at least one image of your SMS opt-in flow:
- Click Create to submit your request!
Step-By-Step How To: Send a New Message
Once your Number is generated, you will be able to send messages to clients and leads who have given you permission to text them!
- To send a New Message, click + Message in the top right-hand corner.
- Type in the Client or Lead Name and choose which number you want the message to be from.
