Prerequisites
π Pro Tip
Buttons on your Wodify Site can live in a few different places, and where the button lives determines where you edit it within your Wodify Site Editor. Click on the button you want to update, then look at what happens to figure out which case applies:
- If a small editing window appears with no blocking message: you're editing a static button. Edit it directly on the page β follow the instructions in "How to Edit a Static Button" below.
- If you see "This content cannot be edited. Contact your administrator" (or nothing happens at all when you click) AND you're on a dynamic page (such as a program page or coach bio page): the button is connected to that page's Collection and needs to be updated through it. See the article on editing program pages or coach bios for instructions. Note: buttons on dynamic pages aren't always connected to a Collection β if clicking the button opens a small editing window with no blocking message, follow the "How to Edit a Static Page Button" instructions instead.
- If you see "This content cannot be edited. Contact your administrator" (or nothing happens at all when you click) AND you're on a static page: the button is connected to a Collection β a shared source of button content used across multiple places on your site (a common example is a "Global CTA" Collection, but yours may be named differently). Skip down to "Editing Connected Buttons (Through a Collection)" below.
How to Edit a Static Button
Use these instructions when clicking the button opens a small editing window. This applies to buttons on static pages and to buttons on coach bio dynamic pages.
- Navigate to the page with the button you want to edit via the page menu in the top left corner of the site editor.
- Click on the button you want to make changes to. A smaller editor window will appear labeled Button Content.
- Change button text in the Text on button field at the top of the window.
- To change where a button leads, you can select Existing site page, Dynamic Page (generally for program pages or coach bios), Web address, or any of the other actions listed.
- Click Republish to send changes live.
Editing Buttons on Dynamic Pages (Through a Collection)
If clicking the button on a dynamic page (such as a program page or coach bio page) shows the "This content cannot be edited" message or nothing happens at all, the button is connected to that page's collection. Updates need to be made in the Collection so they apply across every page that uses it.
For full instructions, see the Edit Program Pages on Wodify Sites or Edit Coach Bios on Wodify Sites articles β the same flow applies to button content within those Collections, and some other Collections like Appointments or Events (your site may or may not have these additional Collections).
Note: Buttons on dynamic pages aren't always connected to a Collection. If clicking the button opens a small editing window with no blocking message, follow the "How to Edit a Static Page Button" instructions instead.
Editing Connected Buttons (Through a Collection)
Some buttons on static pages are connected to a Collection (a common example is a "Global CTA" collection that powers call-to-action buttons across the site). To edit a connected button, follow the same workflow used for editing connected text. See the Editing Connected Text (Through a Collection) section in the Update Text on Wodify Sites article for the steps.
FAQs
"I clicked a button in the editor and nothing happened β not even an error message. What's going on?" β You're likely clicking a button that's connected to a Collection. These buttons can't be edited directly on the page β you'll need to update them through the relevant Collection within your Wodify Site Editor. Follow the diagnostic steps in the Prerequisites section above and proceed to the relevant section based on your determination.
"I updated a button on one page but it changed everywhere β why?" β The button is connected to a Collection. Updates made in a Collection apply to every place that the Collection is connected to. This is intentional, since it keeps your buttons consistent across your site and makes it much easier and faster to make bulk updates. If you want different button content in different places, if you've manually updated a button and it broke the connection, or you're running into other issues, contact support@wodify.com and our team can help.
